God created man after making all the provisions for him to live a good life on earth. The provision of God included man’s covering, health, relationships, food, etc. But he listened to the devil and obeyed him instead of keeping God’s command. In seeking to find his life apart from God, man lost everything.
Eve believed the lies of Satan and disobeyed God. But Adam was not deceived by Satan, instead, he chose to sin thus disobeying God. The image and likeness of God were then marred.
Without the likeness of God i.e. righteousness, man lost dominion.
But to the Son he said, Your throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of your kingdom. (Hebrews 1:8).
Satan was quick to take up the scepter that fell from Adam and Eve. He took over the authority that had been given to man. From there onwards, the man found himself under the authority of the kingdom of darkness and death. Many things were lost as a result of the sin and disobedience of Adam and Eve:
1) He lost his relationship as a beloved son.
2) He lost his divine covering and God-given authority.
3) He lost the beauty of God’s image in his life.
4) He lost his destiny in God’s divine purpose.
5) He lost his very life i.e. spirit, soul, and body.
After losing all these, it looked as if the divine plan of God was all over. The enemy, Satan must have rejoiced thinking it was over with God’s holy purpose. He believed he had won the battle against God. However, Satan did not know the aspect of God’s character, which included His grace and the power of His love. He did not understand that such would be far-reaching that man would be saved and restored.
